Bonaire Rose is made from Carignan and Shiraz grapes that were picked for Rose from our vineyard in Blewitt Springs. Approximately half was wild fermented in barrel and then remained on ferment lees for 6 months. The remainder was fermented in stainless steel then aged in seasoned oak on fine lees for 6 months. The result is a floral and textured rose with dried herb, red fruits and sweet spice.
"Duncan and Peter Lloyd are the sons of Mark Lloyd of Coriole and this is their own winemaking deal. Here we have carignan and shiraz contributing to a rose wine. Single vineyard, Blewitt Springs, oak and steel for its pre-bottle lifespan. Small batch stuff with an eye on minimal intervention. Buy into the legacy, stay for the refreshment factor.
Pale, watermelon juice colour, that inviting sheen that says summer and crisp and refreshing. Delicate scents of rose petal, strawberry, faint spice. Mouthwatering immediately, fine chalky-crunchy texture, pretty with sweetness of red berry fruits that segues to a cool, fine, dry finish. Nothing over or underdone, just so, pitch perfect warm weather rose, with a bit of extra interest in its make up. Could guzzle all day long."
