TROPHY - "Best Blend", Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show
The fruit is hand picked and spends a day in the press on skins. After which the juice is pressed into oak barrels for fermentation, where it stays on lees for six months prior to bottling.
Honey, citrus and white peach on the nose, with flavours of ripe lemons, mandarin and spiced nougat. The palate is medium bodied with soft acidity and a savoury texture.
"These wines are a mission statement, recognising what is coming and what should be planted and crafted, as much for deliciousness as for the future of the region. This is excellent! While I’d like even more phenolics, the resinous hue and whiffs of toasted almond, glazed quince, lemon verbena and Mediterranean herb are all spot on. A great blend! The oak, a guiding adjunct. The intensity and propulsion, impressive. This rummages and barrels and sweeps across the palate. Ripe and thorough. Honest and courageous. 93 points" - Ned Goodwin, Halliday Wine Companion
Notes on the 2020 DUNE El Beyda:
"A very easygoing, attractive dry white with poached-apple and pastry-like aromas, leading to a smooth, soft palate that has fresh pear and white-melon flavors. Drink now. 91 points" - James Suckling
90 Points James Halliday "Well, this is a surprise. It's as fresh as a daisy, with a line of citrussy acid. Fascinating development ahead. 90 points" - James Halliday Wine Companion
