A blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan, Shiraz and a few buckets of Montepulciano that are grown on sandy soils at our vineyard in Blewitt Springs in the North East of McLaren Vale.
This part of McLaren Vale is generally later ripening and is well suited to Mediterranean varieties.
The base of this wine was a co-ferment of 4 varieties with some extra Carignan and a little Montepulciano added post ferment to provide some aromatic lift and structure.. A wine of medium depth, spice and perfume.

"What followed was an extraordinary journey into the unknown, with Thomas reliant on Bin Kalut to negotiate with rival tribes to clear their passage. Living on camel milk and desiccated soup, bolstered on Christmas Day by a festive meal of baked beans, Thomas navigated by the stars and collected botanical specimens en route, more than 20 of which were new to science."
